These chairs don’t come cheap, but the brand does have a less expensive option that may or may not offer the same premium comfort. So let’s see the difference between the Hero and less expensive Epic.

Can you be comfortable in an Epic chair?

This is considered a cheaper chair from the brand brand, so can you still experience the infamous comfort Noblechairs are becoming famous for?  These aren’t at all affordable, so if you have your eyes set on getting an office chair from the brand, this is the closest possibility. 

With its high backrest and nice faux leather upholstery, it can give you that sitting-on-the-throne sensation and can amp up your overall gaming experience. You can also get it in real leather but will amp up the price, So those going for Epic, usually stay with the faux leather option or else get a more upgraded unit from the brand. 

This version can be appreciated by more users

Epic is quite hefty and in the setup process, you can tell that most materials are made from quality materials, not like those cheap China-made chairs that are flimsy.  The only part perhaps that can make it look akin to cheaper chairs is the plastic arms. This is the most unliked part of the chair not only because it’s plastic, but it’s also not padded so not the most comfortable. Regardless of this teeny bit of plastic, the entire chair still feels strong, stable, and sturdy. 

This chair seems quite huge and it is. However, the bucket-style backrest and seat minimize the usable area because of the side flaps or the wings. So those who are wider at the shoulders may feel too pushed forward if they’re sitting in an upright position. 

Though this can be resolved by opting not to use the chair in its 90-degree setting. Though this is a common complaint of almost all gaming chairs, especially with a bucket-shaped backrest and seat. At some point, some people will find them restraining. For instance, let’s see the seat width. It’s at 22”, but the area where you can actually sit is reduced because of the flaps at the sides. These flaps can help keep you centered in the chair. But if you have bigger hips, this can be a bit painful to sit on. 

The distance between the arms is pretty wide, it can even be enough for larger users.  The chair is best used in a tilt or reclined position, this prevents wider shoulders from pinching into the side flaps of the chair.  The tilt and recline function of the chair does feel strong and stable, so unless you are planning to sit upright, then you’ll have no problem with this.  But it’s best used by those of average height to slightly taller people. 

Also, the tapered seat will feel the most comfortable if your legs are together rather than having them splayed. So this may be less of a convenience for those who want more legroom.

The Epic is a rather firm gaming chair

Comfort level is considered to be firm to too firm. So it will not cushion you into softness and it will not be indulgent. But it will be quite supportive. You will start to feel more firm after several hours. And if this does, one way to alleviate it is to use pillows or cushions. But if you’re not up for these accessories, then you should consider chairs should you need to sit on the chair longer. 

So is it still a comfortable chair ?

Bucket-style chairs such as the Hero are notorious for being restrictive, but Hero does feel wider compared to the standard chairs with the same design.

And despite the firm cushion, it is surprisingly nice and comfy for the first few hours. The firmness level increases the longer you sit on it. So this is a very important thing to consider.

The flaps on the side, though decreasing the usable area for the butt and the nack, can have its advantages, especially for slimmer or those of average dimensions. This can help you keep an upright position and prevent you from tilting to one side of the chair.  This is also ideal for gamers between 5 ‘6” to 6’1”.

Comfort-wise, the fixed lumbar still feels nice and supportive. It does feel premium provided that high-end materials were used in the chair.  But if you have more need for fine-tuned back support and will be laying for longer hours, you might look for a chair that has adjustable lumbar support.  

Stability-wise, it is one durable and steady chair. Apart from the arms, everything feels high end like it will last longer.

The Hero is an upgraded version

This chair seems like a refined and more roomy version of the Epic. It feels more open but still has that bucket style for the backrest, but the seat feels more liberating and doesn’t have any flaps.   So this is better suited if you want more legroom or you are quite fidgety with your legs. This lack of flaps may allow for more leg movement. You can even have one leg up on the seat. So if this is how you roll, then you’ll find the more expensive Hero better. The dimensions of the seat are essentially the same, but the flaps make the Epic less roomy.

Two, it allows for more customized comfort. One thing that the Epic lacks is an adjustable lumbar support.  The Hero has a built-in integrated lumbar support system that is adjustable via a knob. This adjusts the tension and height of the lower back support, making it more comfy for longer hours of play.   This rids the need to add cushions or pillows to make it comfortable, making it a more viable option for longer hours of gaming.

But it  can also feel too firm 

Like the Epic chair, this offers a firm to very firm comfort. And as you play longer, you’ll feel that firmness level is going higher. However the lumbar support can somehow make the chair more comfy for working longer hours than the Epic. 

So if you have your eyes on either of these chairs, you have to consider this too firm a seating experience. 

It also shares the same gripes as the Epic’s arms. It feels too much plastic and lacks padding. Thus, like the Epic, this is the most flimsy part of the chair. But this doesn’t affect the premium feel of the chair that much.

So are these two firmer chairs uncomfortable?

Your preferred level of comfort will be the top consideration in answering this question. That is what also usually happens if you’ve been sitting for too long. The firmness levels amp up as you play longer. But compared to other cheap gaming chairs it feels firm but still has that high level of support. It will not feel like you; ‘re sitting on a thin piece of plywood, so you can still tell that it is more expensive, just too firm. 

So it is still comfortable, depending on your preference.
